Do you feel it’s getting harder to keep up with the rapidly shifting technologies impacting you or your business? Robotics, AI and automation are the buzz words of today. But do you really think they will replace food servers and hotel managers? At ITB Berlin, Professor Ian Yeoman of the Hotel Management School Leeuwarden will explore the notion of ‘Robonomics‘ and how technology will shape the present and future of hotel operations. Ian will explore four modes of robonomics, which can be used to envision and operationalize technologies through scenarios and service blue printing.
The four modes are:
Mode 1: Replacement: Labour-replacing applications of technology are those that allow jobs or tasks that were once carried out by people to be undertaken by machines, computers or other assets
Mode 2: Experiences: Technology creates new goods, experiences and services, and thus demands new types of skills, opportunities and jobs.
Mode 3: Argumentation: Labour-augmenting applications of technology are those that directly boost the productivity of workers.
Mode 4: Redesign Better technologies permit existing goods or services to be produced at a lower cost through redesigning the operational interface between human and service provider.
In his presentation, Ian will examine the latest and future technologies shaping each mode with example of practice today.
In response to Ian’s keynote, an expert panel will respond to his thoughts and ideas discussing the practical implications for the hotel and tourism industry.
