Back in December, students from Hotel Management School Leeuwarden hosted Tailor Made, a fine-dining charity dinner at hospital Frisius MC. The event was part of a design challenge within their curriculum, which gave students the opportunity to develop and execute a full hospitality experience, from concept and menu creation to guest experience and operational management.
A team of nine students designed the five-course dinner in collaboration with Frisius MC, Stichting Vrienden van ONS Ziekenhuis, Stichting Prins Max, and Vermaat. Guests were treated to an elegant menu with wine or non-alcoholic pairings, featuring dishes inspired by the diverse cultural backgrounds of the students, including Italy, Germany, Austria, Tanzania, and the Netherlands. The menu took diners on a culinary journey across these countries.
In the meantime, the final amount raised has been presented: €2,970.49. All proceeds will go towards the creation of a new outdoor playground for children at the hospital, helping to provide a brighter and more joyful environment for young patients.
With Tailor Made, the students not only applied their academic knowledge in a practical setting but also demonstrated creativity, teamwork, and social responsibility. A fantastic result and well-deserved compliments to the students for their dedication and professionalism!
