How can hospitality companies better connect with the next generation of talent?
That was the question Hilton Hotels in the Netherlands and Belgium brought to students of Hotel Management School Leeuwarden. Their annual Hilton Connect Event, designed to connect with hospitality management students and future interns, had been organised for many years. But Hilton wanted to know whether the approach still matched what today’s students are looking for.
Through a Design Challenge, HMSL students explored the event from the perspective of their own generation. They looked at visibility, communication, engagement and the way a global hospitality brand can build a meaningful connection with future talent.
For Hilton, the collaboration delivered more than advice. It offered honest insights directly from the target audience, fresh ideas from young hospitality professionals in training, and a valuable connection with students before they enter the industry.
For HMSL, this is Design Based Education in practice: students working on real business challenges, while industry partners gain new perspectives they can use.
