Dr. Lucia Tomassini of the Research Group of the Professorship in Sustainability in Hospitality & Tourism of Professor Elena Cavagnaro just summitted for funding the ground-breaking project proposal ‘Closing the plastic loop in a hospitality facility’. The aim is to develop the knowledge and network needed to set an innovative pilot of plastic upcycling in a hospitality facility by combining a 3D printing process and social inclusiveness.

The project proposal has been submitted to the funding organisation KIEM 2023 CE for the Call of March 2023. Such project counts on a strong consortium made of HMS Professorship in Sustainability in Hospitality & Tourism, NHL Professorship Circular Plastic, Circulair Fryslan Association, Camping Vrijhaven – Heeg, and De Haan Advocaten & Notarissen BV. Moreover, the consortium involves also Omrin, RUG – Faculty of Law, and Binnenstads Management Leeuwarden Circulair Kwartier.

So, now ‘fingers crossed’ to be able to start soon the project activities that will also offer great opportunities for DBE education and students’ involvement.
