Last year, our research lecturer Dr Lucia Tomassini and Dr Elena Cavagnaro took the lead in establishing the Special Interest Group (SIG) focused on ‘Circular Economy and Circularity in the Space of Tourism and Hospitality’. This SIG operates under the umbrella of the Association for Tourism and Leisure Education and Research (ATLAS) which develops transnational educational and research initiatives in tourism and leisure.

The aim of SIG is to thoroughly examine the consequences and societal impacts of Circular Economy on businesses within the tourism and hospitality industry. SIG puts together academics and entrepreneurs to prompt discussion, debate, and project proposals on Circular Economy in Tourism and Hospitality and they’d like to involve the industry as much as possible to embrace their perspective, voice and experience.

Therefore, on the 22nd of March 2024 at 10:30 (CET), the ATLAS Special Interest Group (SIG) organises a webinar with Mrs. Erica García-Nuñez, Coordinator Sustainability Department of Garden Hotels. Garden Hotels is a Mallorcan hotel chain who was the first to receive the AENOR circular economy strategy certification in 2021 at EMEA and she will shine a light on how she implements Circular Economy into her business.

The webinar will be via YouTube streaming, and it is open to scholars, lecturers, students, and industry representatives. Attendance is free and registration can be done via the following link: https://atlas-euro.org/2024-3-22-webinar-sig-circular-economy/
