Research in Hospitality Management proudly marks a major milestone: 15 years of publishing high-quality, impactful research for the global hospitality, tourism, and leisure sectors. With the launch of Volume 15(1), we not only celebrate our history but also look to the future with a special issue dedicated to Transitions to the Future.
Since its founding in 2010, Research in Hospitality Management has provided a platform for innovative thinking, rigorous research, and critical debate in the fields of hospitality, tourism, leisure, and event studies. Over the past decade and a half, the journal has grown in reach and reputation, becoming a respected voice in the academic and professional communities alike.
Volume 15(1) opens with reflections on the journal’s journey, including editorials by Rodney Westerlaken, current Editor-in-Chief, and Erwin Losekoot, former Editor-in-Chief, alongside a retrospective by Sjoerd Gehrels, also former Editor-in-Chief. This commemorative issue features forward-looking contributions on topics such as the role of AI in hospitality education, dementia-friendly tourism, sustainable urban tourism planning, B Corp accreditations in hospitality, and resilience in a fast-changing world.
Highlighting the diversity and dynamism of the field, this edition includes viewpoints, brief reports, and full research articles that together showcase the critical conversations shaping the next generation of hospitality research. The issue reaffirms the journal’s commitment to connecting scholarly work with practice and preparing the industry for the challenges and opportunities of the future.
