The research group Hospitality Education at Hotel Management School Leeuwarden received a Best Paper Award from the Council for Hospitality Management Education (CHME) during its 2024 conference in May. This year’s edition took place at the Leeds Beckett University in Leeds, UK.

The awarded paper, authored by Dr. Marte Rinck de Boer, Macmillion Fernandes, Mandy Wen, Dr. Hanneke Assen, and Inga Mons, describes the ongoing research and curriculum design project “Living the Learning Principles”. This project integrates research with hospitality programme design and implementation to deliver high-quality education.

CHME is a non-profit organisation representing universities and colleges in the UK, Europe, and internationally that offer higher education programmes in hospitality and related fields. The organisation aims to enhance international hospitality management education by sharing best practices in scholarship and pedagogy. This year’s conference focused on the hospitality industry’s impact on the environment, community, and workplace.
